Project Sikka is MatterMake’s vision brought to the sea — a modular, 3D-printed artificial reef system designed to regenerate Malta’s marine environments.

Partnering with marine biologists, we created reef components that mimic natural coral morphology while offering structural complexity and habitat niches.

The geometry, porosity, and interstitial voids were carefully tuned to support fish, invertebrates, and seagrass colonization — creating a living scaffold.

Over time, these printed reefs will grow richer and more biodiverse, weaving engineered precision with ecological spontaneity — restoring underwater communities in a meaningful, site-specific way.
