In Cinema Visiona, we reimagined a basement room as an immersive theater where form, function, and narrative converge. What you see isn’t just seating—it’s a terrain; what you hear isn’t just sound—it’s sculpted. This theater was conceived to transform cinema into an experience.
The Brief & Challenge
The client wanted not just a screening room, but a spatial instrument: a place where visitors step into the story. The challenge? The technical systems—acoustics, lighting, projection, ventilation—are complex. How do you make them understandable and intuitively felt, not hidden away?
Concept: An Infographic You Walk Through
The idea was to let the architecture explain itself. We treated the environment as a three-dimensional infograph:
Seating terrain: instead of rows, the layout undulates like a wave, inviting different seating postures.
Acoustic fins & lighting: visible wall fins act as both audio absorbers and mood lighting elements.
Material transitions: PET felt surfaces, walnut joinery, and exposed substructure become communicative rather than concealed.

Execution & Fabrication
Bringing this vision to life required precision and integration:
CNC-milled seating forms were broken into manageable modules, upholstered to maintain the visual flow.
PET felt acoustic panels were modular, assembled to ensure continuity of texture & line.
Walnut veneer accents and structural plywood subframes provided warmth and structural logic.
Lighting & AV integration were layered within the surfaces so the tech feels embedded, not appended.

Spatial & Sensory Experience
From the moment someone enters, the space tells a story:
Soft, enveloping surfaces coax a sense of calm.
The lighting subtly shifts—accenting the curvature, drawing attention to transitions.
Sound is rich but controlled—because every contour is tuned, not guesswork.

Impact & Takeaways
Cinema Visiona is more than a movie room; it’s a prototype of immersive architecture. It taught us that:
Infrastructure doesn’t have to be hidden—it can become the narrative.
The interplay between form and function can be poetic.
Ownership of digital + fabrication pipelines gives control over nuance.
