the project
The brief was to take Manouche, the bakery and bistro we’d done in Spinola Park, and re-interpret it for a new room in Paceville. We did the interior design, from a laser scan of the shell through the layout, lighting and finishes, and then made most of it ourselves.
The walls do a lot of the work. Black Valchromat panelling, part of it engraved. A fluted wall. American walnut, with engraving on the long feature walls at the back and at the entrance. Acoustic felt made from recycled PET, and mirrors to open the room up. Above, cane ceiling panels and fifteen hanging copper planters. Rattan chairs and banquettes to sit on.
Designed through the spring of 2021, finished at the end of the year.
