the project
We gave ourselves two jobs here. The first was one signature piece that would make the shop feel like somewhere, with a small family of freestanding parts to go with it: the cashier desk and the product islands. The second was to bring a dozen different brand displays into one calm language.
The tree in the middle of the shop came out of a 3D model and was cut on our robotic arm. The S-shaped piece near the entrance holds the cashier desk and storage, plus a floating sample bar where people can try perfumes and products.
Along the walls we ran ‘ribbons’ at set heights to tie everything together: shelving and plants up top, a band of brand logos, then cabinets, shelving or plinths below, so the whole shop keeps one continuous line. We kept the shelves and cabinets neutral so the products do the talking, and linked the ribbons back to the timber pieces with vertical fins between the brands.
We wrote up how the tree was made, as a lamella timber structure, on the build-tech page.
